TEHRAN (Press Shia Agency) – The airborne division of Iran’s Army Ground Force carried out a nocturnal reconnaissance and combat mission as part of a war game in central Iran.
Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force’s Airborne Division General Yousef Qorbani said his forces have for the first time carried out a night reconnaissance mission and nocturnal combat with assault copters furnished with night-vision cameras.
During the operation, held as part of a large-scale war game in the province of Isfahan, the Airborne Division’s choppers detected the hypothetical enemy’s positions on Friday night and detonated the fixed and mobile ground targets with modified rockets and missiles, he added.
The final phase of the “Eqtedar (Power)” large-scale war game, involving 12,000 assault forces from all units of the Army Ground Force, began on Saturday morning with Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi in attendance.
In April 2018, the Ground Force’s Airborne Division launched a program to equip all choppers with night-vision cameras to enhance aircraft capabilities in night missions.
General Qorbani has announced earlier that Iran has the most powerful fleet of choppers in the Middle East.
