TEHRAN (Press Shia Agency) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif lashed out at the three European parties to the 2015 nuclear deal for siding with the US in the economic terrorism that has deprived Iran of humanitarian aid for flood victims.
In a message on his Twitter account on Wednesday night, Zarif said, “A year after US’ unlawful abrogation of JCPOA, Europe can’t muster political will to defy US’ Economic TERRORISM. Not even by setting up a single banking channel for humanitarian aid.”
“E3 are instead busy appeasing @realDonaldTrump by pressuring UN over our defensive capabilities,” Zarif added, referring to a report that Britain, France and Germany are accusing Iran of developing missile technology are calling for a full UN report on the case.
Record spring rainfall in Iran in the past two weeks caused serious flooding in many areas, mainly the provinces of Golestan, Lorestan, Khuzestan, Fars and Ilam, forcing thousands to leave their homes. The death toll in the disaster has reached 62.
While the rescue and relief teams are busy working in the flood-hit areas, the US sanctions have frozen all accounts of Iran’s Red Crescent Society and have barred Tehran from receiving foreign aid, including rescue helicopters.
On Wednesday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani decried the “unprecedented crime” of banning the delivery of foreign relief for flood victims in Iran and for the Red Crescent.
