TEHRAN (Press Shia) – Despite a recent hostile move by the US to blacklist al-Nujaba, a major Shiite resistance group in Iraq, a delegation from the European Union (EU) met with the group’s officials, praising the social services provided by the movement in the Arab country.
The efforts made by al-Nujaba Islamic Resistance to provide public services have turned this Iraqi group to a reference organization in this regard, according to a report of al-Nujaba’s Centre for Relations and Media Affairs in Iran.
The European delegation, traveling to Basra in order to do some relief and social programs in the deprived region of al-Qibla, visited the office of al-Nujaba in the strategic port and met and negotiated with the officials of the movement.
Speaking at the meeting, the ambassador of the European Union in Iraq, Ramon Blecua, said, “In order to provide people with help, we cooperate with different popular groups, regardless of their organizational approach and details.
“The US has made different decisions, but Europe has not followed all of them; as they exited the nuclear deal with Iran and we disapproved of their act,” he stated.
The head of the European delegation added, “Our approach is social and non-political. Our purpose is to help Iraq and eradicate deprivation from al-Qibla region.
“The European Union is ready to cooperate with different groups, active in providing social services, such al-Nujaba Islamic Resistance,” he went on to say.
