TEHRAN (Press Shia) – Commander of the Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi and his Chinese counterpart exchanged views about a range of issues, including ways to boost “operational cooperation” between the two navies.

Speaking at the meeting, Rear Admiral Khanzadi, who is in Beijing to attend an event marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy, hailed the growing ties between the Islamic Republic and the East Asian country and said given the high importance of the international event, he participated in it as the representative of the Iranian Armed Forces.

The trip to China indicates the mutual understanding of the two countries and their armed forces, the commander added.  

He further expressed hope that both navies would strengthen “educational, technical and operational” cooperation in the near future. 

Rear Admiral Khanzadi is in China at the invitation of the Chinese Navy commander. 

Iran and China have close diplomatic, economic, trade and energy ties, and in recent years have developed their military relations as well.

Back in November 2016, the defense ministers of Iran and China signed an agreement in Tehran to enhance the defense cooperation between the two countries.
