TEHRAN (Press Shia) – Iran’s interior minister roundly dismissed the idea of entering talks with the US, saying it would result in more pressures against the Islamic Republic.
In comments in a gathering of Iranian provincial governors on Sunday, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli slammed the idea of negotiations with the US government.
Given the US record of cruel pressures, acts of interference and violation of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, even the idea of entering talks with Washington would spell stronger pressures and more actions against Iran, he warned.
Pointing to the enemies’ deep grudge against the Islamic Republic, the minister underlined that Iran should strengthen “resistance and fortitude” to make the enemies realize that they have to accept and compromise with Iran.
“They exert pressure with oil (sanctions) assuming that they could bring our oil sales down to zero, but the Islamic Republic is making efforts in various ways (to foil enemy plots) and will be standing against them,” Rahmani Fazli stated.
In comments in August 2018, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei roundly dismissed the idea of negotiations with the US, saying dialogue with a bullying regime that uses talks as a tool for pursuing its hostile policies is forbidden and would be detrimental to Iran.
Pointing to the US government’s strategy for negotiations, the Leader said Iran can enter the “dangerous game” of negotiations with the US only when it achieves the desired might in the economic, political and cultural spheres and resist Washington’s strategy of propaganda campaign and pressures.
