TEHRAN (Press Shia Agency) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the Wednesday’s terrorist attacks in Pakistan’s Lahore and Afghanistan’s Kabul.
In a statement on Wednesday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi denounced the fatal terrorist attacks in Lahore and Kabul.
He also expressed sympathy with the Pakistani and Afghan governments, nations and families of victims of the bombings.
In one of the attacks, a bomb exploded near a major Sufi shrine in the Pakistani city of Lahore on Wednesday. Hundreds of pilgrims were at the Data Darbar site as the country marks the holy month of Ramadan.
Lahore’s police chief said his officers were the intended target. At least eight people have been killed so far, a police official told a news conference.
Elsewhere in Afghanistan, the Taliban attack on the offices of an international NGO in Kabul set off a huge explosion in an assault that wounded at least nine people. A spokesperson for the Afghan Ministry of Interior Affairs said the target of the attack was Counterpart International, an international organization headquartered in the US that is operating in Afghanistan since 2005.
