TEHRAN (Press Shia Agency) – A massive rally to mark the International Quds Day was held in the Syrian Capital, Damascus, on Friday that began from entrance of Souq al-Hamediya toward Umayyad Mosque.
The participants condemned the criminal practices of the Israeli forces and the systematic Judaization carried out by the occupying regime in Palestine, especially in the occupied city of Jerusalem.
They also expressed their appreciation for the stance taken by Syria and its leadership in support of the Palestinian cause, SANA news agency reported.
Each year, the International Quds Day is celebrated on the last Friday of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
The event’s raison d’être is renewing support for the Palestinians and denunciation of Israel.
The day is also seen as the legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, who officially declared the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as International Quds Day back in 1979.
