TEHRAN, Jan. 09 (Press Shia Agency) – A signatory of the Scientists’ Letter to Trump Supporting Iran Nuclear Deal has said JCPOA should be kept alive by Trump administration as a US asset.
Richard Lawrence Garwin is an American physicist, widely known to be the author of the first hydrogen bomb design. He is one of 37 scientists who sent a letter to Trump transition team where they argued that JCPOA was beneficial to the states as well as the international community in maintaining checks and balances on Iran’s nuclear program.
“The JCPOA does not take any options off the table for you or any future president. Indeed, it makes it much easier for you to know if and when Iran heads for a bomb. It provides both time and legitimacy for an effective response; our technical judgment is that the multilateral JCPOA provides a strong bulwark against an Iranian nuclear-weapons program. We urge you to preserve this critical U.S. strategic asset,” Garvin co-authored along with other scientists in the letter.
“I hope that the President-elect and his team will read the letter and find it convincing, after checking with the intelligence community, the State Department, and other elements of the United States Government,” he told Mehr News in a brief comments about the letter.
