TEHRAN (Press Shia Agency) – Israeli forces mercilessly shot and killed a Palestinian woman at the Qalandiya military checkpoint, located to the north of Jerusalem al-Quds.
The victim, whose identity was not immediately known, was killed at the Qalandia checkpoint between Jerusalem al-Quds and the north of the West Bank on Wednesday.
The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed later that the 50-year-old woman, who remained unidentified, succumbed to her wounds.
The version offered by Israeli media is that the woman was purportedly attempting to stab Israeli soldiers before she was shot, despite no reports of injuries among soldiers, according to Palestinian Wafa news website.
Soldiers attacked Palestinians attempting to cross the checkpoint with pepper spray and closed down the checkpoint in both directions.
Many Palestinians have been injured or killed in similar incidents under the pretext of alleged stabbing attempts.
Israeli has been criticized for its reflexive use of lethal force and “extrajudicial killings” when Palestinian alleged attackers no longer pose an immediate threat.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said that circumstances surrounding such killings over the past months remain disputed.
Various international human rights organizations have slammed Israel’s policy of “extrajudicial killings” against Palestinians.
Video footage posted on social media appears to disapprove Israeli military claims, showing the alleged Palestinian attacker did not even attempt to carry out any attacks.
