DAVOS, Jan. 18 (Press Shia Agency) – Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif held talks with EU foreign policy chief Mogherini as well as his Swiss and Finnish counterparts on the sidelines of World Economic Forum in Davos on Wednesday.
During the meeting with Swiss Foreing Minister Didier Burkhalter, the two top diplomats conferred on bilateral relations and the recent developments in the region and the world.
The two sides further expressed satisfaction with the increasing trend in Tehran-Bern ties and exchanged views on closer cooperation between the two countries in banking and financial fields.
Zarif also held talks with Finnish Foreign Minister Timo Soini on Wednesday, and conferred on the expansion of cooperation, as well as various regional and international issues.
The Iranian diploamt also held talks with EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini later in the day where they discussed regional and international issues.
Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in the Swiss city of Zurich Tuesday night to take part in the World Economic Forum in Davos. As the first plan on his agenda, Zarif attended an informal and consultative meeting on Syria behind closed doors at Hilton Garden Inn Davos Hotel this morning with a number of other foreign ministers from regional and European countries, as well as Ms. Mogherini and UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura, in attendance.
Zarif will then leave Swizerland for Malaysia to take part in an ad hoc meeting by the foreign ministers of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries in Kuala Lumpur on January 19 to address the situation of the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.
