TEHRAN, Jan. 23 (Press Shia Agency) – Head of the Judiciary has called all prosecutor-generals across the country to enforce the laws on retrofitting old business and residential buildings.
Ayatollah Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani who was addressing a meeting of Judiciary high-ranking officials on Monday offered condolences to the family of victims especially of firefighters who joined in the ranks of legendary figures in the social history of the country; “we equally express gratitude for public’s overflow of sympathies for the firefighters in the social media as well as in streets; the event had many lessons to learn for authorities and all should joint efforts to bring coordination to enforcement of laws on retrofitting old and highly shaky buildings around the country,” he told the meeting.
Ayatollah Amoli Larijani believed that merely closing down businesses nested in old buildings and complexes would not solve problems overnight; “this is not a solution to set a ban on public’s business; retrofitting buildings should have its own mechanisms and society and officials should cooperate in hitting plans which would secure retrofitting of old buildings,” he emphasized, urging that no one should politicize the event of Plasco collapse for merely partisan interests and as short-term strategy option.
He also extended gratitude to all engaged in the rescue operations including police, military, firefighting department, Tehran’s prosecutor-general, and host of other authorities; “retrofitting efforts should be nationwide and should have support of prosecutor-generals across the country,” he suggested.
In a different story, Amoli Larijani warned against overhasty decisions on Trump’s coming to power in the White House; “he is quite new to the office and time will show how he acts in domestic as well as international arena; however, some of his remarks are harbinger of a sort of racism and which injured sentiments of many people inside the US; no less important is the fact that Trump rise to power would embolden Islamophobic circles, though he had eschewed from directly taking positions against Islam itself,” he concluded.
