TEHRAN (Press Shia) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held a meeting with members of The Elders in Qatar on Sunday.
The top Iranian diplomat and members of The Elders, a group of former UN secretary-generals and senior officials, met on the sidelines of the Doha Forum 2019 in the Qatari capital.
In the gathering, the two sides discussed the most pressing issues of mutual interest.
During the talks, also attended by former UN chief Ban Ki-moon, Zarif elaborated on the purposes behind the Islamic Republic’s Hormuz Peace Endeavour (HOPE) initiative, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.
The two sides also talked about the US’ unilateral move to leave multilateral commitments, including the JCPOA undertakings.
Established in 2000, the Doha Forum seeks to promote the interchange of ideas, discourse, policymaking, and action-oriented recommendations.
Doha Forum 2019 has brought together many world leaders, thinkers, and policymakers to reimagine a global governance to address the collective needs and priorities.
