TEHRAN (Press Shia) – People from all walks of life in the Iranian cities of Khorramshahr and Abadan gathered on Tuesday to accompany the body of the martyred commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, to his home-country during a massive funeral ceremony.
Iranians held a glorious funeral ceremony in Khorramshahr and Abadan and accompanied the body of al-Muhandis, who was assassinated along with Iran’s Lt. General Qassem Soleimani on Friday, to the border city of Shalamcheh towards Iraq.
The body will be buried in Wadi-us-Salaam cemetery in Najaf, Iraq.
General Soleimani, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and a number of their entourage were killed in a strike by American drones near Baghdad International Airport in the early hours of Friday.
A series of gigantic funeral ceremonies have been held for the anti-terrorist commanders in a number of Iranian cites.
