TEHRAN (Press Shia) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said people want the US forces to get out of the region.
In a post on his Twitter account on Thursday, Zarif highlighted parts of his recent interview with CNN, made on the sidelines of the Tehran Dialogue Forum 2020, before Iran’s missile attack on US targets in Iraq in retaliation for the American assassination of top commander Lt. General Qassem Soleimani.
In his message, the Iranian foreign minister said US President Donald Trump has been fed with “disinformation”.
“Beautiful military equipment do not rule the world: people do,” Zarif underlined.
“And people of our region want US out,” the foreign minister underlined.
In a speech on Wednesday morning, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said the US “received a slap in the face” after the IRGC missile attack, stressing that the presence of American forces in the region, which he said only causes corruption, must end.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has also said the main retaliation against the US for the assassination of Lt. General Soleimani is that American forces must be expelled from the region forever.
