TEHRAN, Jan. 26 (Press Shia Agency) – President Hassan Rouhani of Iran received on Wednesday the visiting Kuwaiti FM Sheikh Sabah who had a special message from the Kuwaiti Emir for the Iranian government.
“Iran’s policy is to develop friendly and brotherly ties with Muslim and neighboring countries more than ever based on reciprocal respect, good neighborliness, and Islamic brotherhood,” said President Hassan Rouhani of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Wednesday. He made the remarks in his meeting with the Kuwaiti delegation to Tehran headed by Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Khaled al-Hamad al-Sabah. Mr. Sabah was incumbent to deliver the special message of Kuwaiti Emir to President Rouhani.
During the meeting, President Rouhani maintained that the will of the nations is the top element of sovereignty and establishment in their countries. He elaborated on his note saying that “while the Islamic Republic of Iran was immediately, after the Islamic Revolution of 1979, attacked by its enemies, it never started a war and proved its role as a consolidated obstruction to any war and terrorism in the region.”
“The stability and security of the sensitive region of the Middle East is only achievable via dialogue, friendship, and cooperation between the countries of the region specially the neighboring ones,” asserted the Iranian President. “There is no doubt that progress and development of the countries and peoples of the region benefit the stability and security generally.”
Mr. Rouhani reassured that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been committed to help the peoples and governments of the region in war with terrorism, and asserted that terrorism is a big threat for the whole region and it could only be resisted with solidarity, unity, and cooperation.
“Iran’s might and capacity have always been at the service for defending the security and stability of the region and to sponsor the neighbors,” reiterated the Iranian head of government. “The political, economic, and cultural ties of Iran and Kuwait should reach an approvable level, considering the potentials and the eagerness of the two nations,” noted the Iranian president after stressing on expansion of friendly ties between the countries of the region.
Mr. Rouhani underlined that the Islamic Republic of Iran will support any measure which aims to contribute to stability and security of the region.
During the same meeting, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Khalid al-Hamad al-Sabah who also serves as the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kuwait handed the special message of Kuwaiti Emir to President Rouhani and then said for his part, “Emir, government, and the people of Kuwait hold deep respect toward the government and people of Islamic Republic of Iran and its constructive role in the region.”
Mr. Sabah praised the endeavors and efforts exerted by the Islamic Republic of Iran for expanding cooperation and relations with the countries of the regions, especially the neighbor ones, and urged for capitalizing on commonalities and potentials for the sake of all-out broadening of ties.
“There should be a unanimous effort for countering radical groups, terrorism and extremism in the region,” said the Kuwaiti FM after calling attentions to what he described as “the danger of Takfirism and extremism in the region.” He urged all to contribute to the establishment of stability and security in the region.
Before meeting with President Rouhani, he held a bilateral meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif after arriving in Tehran on Wednesday morning and the two sides conferred on different regional issues and concerns.
Sabah’s visit to Iran was just a day after opening of a NATO regional office in Kuwait; the first regional center in the Persian Gulf.
