BRUSSELS, Feb.01 (Press Shia Agency) – European Council President Donald Tusk has described the administration of United States President Donald Trump as a new existential threat to Europe.
“Particularly the change in Washington puts the European Union in a difficult situation; with the new administration seeming to put into question the last 70 years of U.S. foreign policy,” said Tusk referring to Trump’s controversial first steps since his inauguration on the January 20.
Like this, Poland former Prime Minister place the U.S. president as one of the main threats to the continent together with “Russia aggressive policy, and terror and anarchy in the Middle East”.
“For the first time in our history, in an increasingly multipolar world, many are becoming anti-European or Eurosceptic,” stated Tusk about the ‘unpredictable’ impact Trump’s future actions may have on the global political and diplomatic firmament.
Let us show our European pride, he insisted, if we act like we do not hear the statements and do not take into account the decisions taken against the EU and our future, people will stop seeing Europe as their great homeland, he said.
Tusk recalled that a ‘divided Europe’ does not guarantee a greater sovereignty of its member states, but a dependence on economic superpowers, including the United States itself, he concluded.
