TEHRAN, Feb. 15 (Press Shia) – President Rouhani said Iran welcomes the message on promotion of ties recently conveyed by Kuwait on behalf of six Persian Gulf littoral states.
A few minutes before departing Tehran for Muscat on Wednesday morning, Hassan Rouhani told reporter that six Persian Gulf countries have recently conveyed a message to Iran through the Kuwaiti government on settling disputes and development of cooperation through dialogue.
“We back the core idea of the message and the issue will be discussed with two members of [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council during the visit to Oman,” he continued.
He underscored that holding friendly relations with neighbors and security of Persian Gulf were principal policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“Iran has never intended to intrude upon or interfere in internal issues of other countries or impose its ideological, religious or political views against them,” stressed the official reiterating that Tehran pursued the policy of joint cooperation with friends and Islamic states.
He stated that Persian Gulf held great significance saying “we have always emphasized that security of Persian Gulf needs to be preserved by regional countries, who are mature and capable enough, without harmful presence of outsiders.”
President Rouhani called for further unity on the account that artificial and fake gap created by world powers between Shia and Sunni needs to be eliminated since the two groups have peacefully lived together for centuries.
“Iranophobia, Shia phobia and neighbor phobia have been falsely forged by aliens and regional states are able to resolve misunderstanding through negotiations,” said the official maintaining that Iran has always sought to bolster relations and form stability, unity and security in all corners of the region.
He went on to underline that great capacities existed for reinvigoration of Iran’s ties with Persian Gulf littoral states and the present visit, for one part, aims at development of bilateral relations.
Hassan Rouhani reiterated that the visit to Oman is being made at official invitation of Sultan of Oman and the Emir of Kuwait adding “Iran has always enjoyed close ties with the two states though strengthening of current relations will be discussed during the visit.”
“The region is presently turbulent and conditions of Iraq, Syria and Yemen will be mulled over during meetings with officials of Persian Gulf states who can play a significant role in ending bloodshed in Yemen in particular,” he concluded.
Iran’s President left Tehran for Oman with investigation of venues for deeper ties in private and state sectors and sharing views on regional issues as two main axes of his visit.
Rouhani is accompanied by a number ministers, advisors and representatives of the private sector.
In conclusion of his visit to Oman, the Iranian President will travel to Kuwait on Wednesday evening.
