TEHRAN, Feb. 15 (Press Shia) – Tehran’s prosecutor-general has denounced ‘media hype to show green light to those in the house arrest.’
Mr. Abbas Jafari Dowlatabadi told reporters on Tuesday that house arrest of the leaders of seditionists in the aftermath of 2009 presidential elections had been a ‘unanimous majority decision,’ and many organizations and authorities contributed to the final decision. He believed no one could voice discontent for the house arrest, since they could not provide legal proofs that discredits the decision based on legal process. Leaders of seditionists have been under house arrest since February 2011 when they called for proetsts.
On a related story, Jafari Dowlatabadi told the press that 8 were indicted on Sarmayeh Bank and Teachers’ Fund corruption cases, along with 4 indictments on Mellat Bank corruption dossier.
“A women judge has been appointed as acting head of Children and Adolescent Court; Tehran Prosecutor-General’s office deems family and children important for society and thus a Women and Family Deputy was appointed to address issues,” Jafari Dowlatabadi told the press. “The Court will extend legal support for children and women.”
“Two women interrogators were appointed to serve Children and Adolescent Court; this is quite unprecedented in the history of the Revolution; we hope that the appointed judges will work to realize objectives set by the Prosecutor-General’s office,” he said.
Still in a related story, Dowlatabadi said that Mehdi Khazali, son of a powerful cleric and former member of the Assembly of Experts Abolghasem Khazali, had recently been detained to serve his sentence which had been given few years ago; “he had been quite stubborn in his undeserved critics of the Judiciary and even he called people to boycott February 10 rallies, in complicity with media propaganda of the enemies,” Dowlatabadi asserted.
