TEHRAN, Mar. 13 (Press Shia Agency) – On agenda for Zionist-western mainstream media has been to embark on a psychological warfare which seems to target Iran-Russian relations.
The agenda was launched by Zionist security-intelligence website, Debkafile, last weekend on a report where it alleged new arrangements in the Middle East would force Iran and Hezbollah to withdraw from Syria, since Trump’s administration would not allow such ambitious scheme by Iran to create a safe land bridge from its borders through northern Iraq and Syria down to the Mediterranean.
Debka also claimed that Putin had thwarted exhortations by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu that worked to receive Putin’s attention to the situation in the Golan Heights; “a day earlier, the Israeli prime minister may not have fared much better when he taxed the Russian president with security concerns about the entrenchment of Iranian and Hizbulah forces in southern Syria ominously close to the Israel border. Putin greeted him with affection, but made it clear that his overriding concern was coordinating with Trump’s new initiatives in Syria and Israel’s security concerns were a side show,” wrote Debka analyst.
Equally uninspiring was, the report claimed, the recent visit by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan; “Erdoğan traveled to Moscow for a last attempt to persuade the Russian president to at least promise to prevent Kurdish self-rule. Although Putin lavishly praised their deal for jointly brokering a ceasefire in Syria and a peace conference, the Turkish president’s journey was wasted. He was fobbed off by Putin whose first priority at this time is to keep in step with the Trump administration’s head-spinning decision for direct military intervention in Syria – rather than look after Turkish interest,” continued the Debka analyst, quoting Moscow circles close to Kremlin that the visit had produced almost nothing to the Turkish side.
With a general mutual understanding, the analyst claimed, by the US with Russia, as Putin had already focused on Trumpian scheme for Syrian crisis, will have controlled the Kurdish regions of Syria from Iraqi borders eastern banks of Euphrates as a no-fly buffer zone, thus Hezbollah and Iran would consider ending mission in Syria overland.
Debka analyst also claimed that late in his term, Barack Obama reached a tentative agreement with Putin on the respective spheres of influence in Syria: regions to the east of Euphrates would be in the US forces’ control and all Arab-majority villages down to the Mediterranean coasts would be Russian dominion. Turkish-demanded safe zone would be achieved thus from its borders down to 35-50km well into Syrian inner territories and the city lf al-Bab which now Turkish army controls.
A similar US-organized safe zone would still pop up in the south of Syria along borders with Zionist regime and Jordan; tackling Hezbollah and Iran’s threat is the major objective to be met by the deal; on this, Trump and Putin also would come to a conclusion that would damage Iranian position in Syria: Hezbollah would return home in Lebanon, with Iranians leaving with consternation.
Part of the campaign to hit Iran-Russia relations goes on in the heart of Europe where in Prague, Radio Free Europe aired a report where US envoy to the UN Nikki Haley had claimed, with blatant Iranophobia that any solution to Syrian crisis would entail removal of Iran and its proxies from Syria.
The United States supports the UN-led Syria peace talks, Nikki Haley said on Wednesday, saying Syria could no longer be a ‘safe haven for terrorists’ and that it was important “we get Iran and their proxies out.”
“This is very much about a political solution now … and that basically means that Syria can no longer be a safe haven for terrorists, we’ve got to make sure we get Iran and their proxies out, we’ve got to make sure that, as we move forward, we’re securing the borders for our allies as well,” she said, quoted by Reuters.
In the same lines, German Deutsche Welle report also contributed to the psychological warfare; Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is due to meet Russian President Putin in Moscow. They’re expected to discuss the growing Shia influence in the Middle East – something both leaders would like to see reduced, the report said.
On Thursday, Netanyahu said in a meeting with Putin that his country would not tolerate Iran in Syria which had sought to bolster its positions militarily and possibly through securing a sea port; “Israel supports political solution in Syria; however, we are absolutely concerned with Hezbollah and Iran after the political solution enforces their positions in the country,” he added.
The psychological war evolves around showing the public that there had been a rift in Iran-Russia ties, even it was imaginary; to such propaganda, Russian officials time and again provided responses and assurances on Iran’s positive contribution to Syrian situation. Famously, Putin provided no comments to Netanyahu’s remarks, but made subtle suggestions to Netanyahu that historically hostile view of Iran by the regime should be seriously considered through a fresh assessment of the situation in the region. “The world we live in has drastically changed for good,” Mr. Putin added.
Circles close to Astana process responded Mehr News efforts to reach out prominent figures in the session; reportedly, Sergey Lavrov rejected Turkish foreign minister’s demand, quite brazenly, that Iran be set aside in the upcoming session on Syria; equally supporting and favorable, Lavrov’s rejoinder impressed Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, which rejoiced Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, also attending the dialogue. Mr. Lavrov’s response confirmed Iran’s positive role in Syrian situation and reaffirmed Russian view of Iran as a legitimate power on the ground in Syria which contributed to the fights against ISIL. Such bold claim thus was aborted.
Still in the same way, Putin’s special envoy to Middle East Sergey Lavrentiev had told Iranian officials that Russian intelligence expected to see that the west would launch such propaganda to taint the image of Iran with Russia.
